MANCHESTER, Ky. — Two missing teenage girls from Laurel County were located in Clay County on Thursday morning and safely returned to social services following a multi-agency investigation.

According to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office, Alexis Gilbert, 16, and Cassidy Longworth, 17, had been reported missing early Thursday, May 15, after last being seen near Campground Elementary School, approximately seven miles south of London.

Surveillance video from the area showed the girls being picked up by a male suspect. Investigators identified the man as Lloyd Allen James Ihde, 19, of Corbin, and located him at his workplace in London that afternoon.

During questioning, Ihde told authorities that he had driven the girls to Manchester and dropped them off along a roadside. Working in coordination with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, deputies conducted a search of the area and successfully located both girls.

The juveniles were taken into custody by the Clay County Sheriff’s Department and subsequently returned to Laurel County Social Services.

As a result of the investigation, Ihde was arrested and charged with custodial interference. He was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center
