Hall County, GA — A 24-year-old woman is facing serious charges after authorities say she abused a toddler by placing a dog leash around his neck and forcing him to smoke marijuana.

According to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office, Brooke Morgan Bestpitch was first investigated by the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office last year. When investigators discovered that the alleged abuse occurred at a residence in Hall County, they transferred the case in December.

Initial findings revealed that Bestpitch allegedly gave a marijuana joint to a toddler and forced the child to smoke it. She was arrested on February 6 and charged with reckless conduct. Bestpitch was released the following day after posting a $1,300 bond.

As the investigation progressed, Hall County investigators obtained a search warrant for Bestpitch’s cell phones and Snapchat account. What they uncovered led to more disturbing allegations.

Authorities say they found photos and videos of the child hogtied with belts and yarn, and another video that reportedly shows Bestpitch pulling on a dog leash around the toddler’s neck, constricting his breathing.

Based on the new evidence, Bestpitch was arrested again on Friday and charged with first-degree child cruelty. She was released from the Hall County Jail the next day after posting an $11,200 bond.

The case remains under investigation. Authorities have not released the current condition of the child or whether the child has been removed from the home.
