Somerset Man Indicted on 45 Sex-Related Charges in Pulaski County

PULASKI COUNTY, Ky. — A Somerset man is facing a lengthy list of sex-related charges following multiple indictments handed down by grand juries in both Pulaski and Russell Counties.

Jesus Alberto Chavez, 32, was initially arrested on October 23, 2024, on charges of rape and sodomy in the second and third degrees.

Following his arrest, a Pulaski County grand jury indicted Chavez on December 5, 2024, on one count each of rape, sodomy, and first-degree sexual abuse. Further evidence presented to the grand jury on December 17 led to additional indictments for rape and sodomy in the third degree.

The most recent and extensive indictment came on April 3, 2025, when Chavez was indicted on 45 separate countsinvolving sexual offenses. The charges range from rape and sodomy in the third degree to more serious offenses including:

  • Use of a minor under 16 in a sexual performance

  • Promoting a sexual performance by a minor under 16

  • Possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor

Chavez is currently being held at the Pulaski County Detention Center on bonds totaling $800,000 in connection with the multiple indictments across Pulaski and Russell Counties.

Authorities say the investigation is ongoing.
