Disorderly Beach Arrest on Tybee Island Leads to Stabbing Confession

April 08, 2025

TYBEE ISLAND, Ga. — A woman arrested for disorderly conduct on Tybee Island Beach last week allegedly confessed to involvement in an out-of-town stabbing incident while being transported to jail.

According to the Tybee Island Police Department, officers were called to the beach near the 14 1/2 Street crossover last Tuesday after reports of a woman behaving erratically. A witness told police the woman had been screaming and throwing sand at a baby.

When officers arrived, they said the woman began yelling profanities and became uncooperative when asked for identification. Officers reported spotting a small liquor bottle in the woman's fanny pack. When asked if it was made of glass, she allegedly began slamming the bottle against a beach railing, escalating the situation further.

The woman was taken into custody and charged with obstruction of law enforcement.

While being transported to the Chatham County Detention Center, authorities say the woman made an unsolicited statement confessing to a stabbing incident that occurred in a different jurisdiction.

Tybee Island Police have since notified authorities in that jurisdiction, and the woman remains in custody as the investigation into both incidents continues.
