ANCHORAGE, AK – An Alaska mother has been arrested and charged with child endangerment after allegedly leaving her young child alone in a parked car while she went on a “romantic rendezvous.”

According to Alaska State Troopers, 38-year-old Lillian Johnson left her 20-month-old child unattended inside a vehicle outside a bar and hotel in Healy on Tuesday evening. The car was turned off, with a window partially open, while outside temperatures dropped to 6 degrees Fahrenheit.

Authorities said the child had been alone for approximately 30 minutes before being discovered crying inside the freezing vehicle. Emergency responders were called to the scene and treated the child for hypothermia.

Johnson was taken into custody and transported to Fairbanks Correctional Center. She has been charged with first-degree child endangerment.

Alaska State Troopers have not released further details regarding the case, and the child’s current condition remains unknown.
