Burning railroad ties leads to additional support
March 17, 2025
Multiple fire departments collaborated for seven hours on Friday to extinguish a fire that broke out in a small building in Manchester, fueled by burning railroad ties.
According to a Facebook post by the City of Manchester Fire Department (MFD), crews were dispatched just after 3:15 p.m. after Clay County E-911 received reports of a large fire near the intersection of KY-11 and Buzzard Road.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a small structure engulfed in flames along with approximately 300 burning railroad ties, prompting them to call for additional support. Several nearby fire departments responded to the emergency, including the Bush Fire Department from Laurel County, as well as Hacker Fire Department, Fogertown Fire Department, and Richland Fire Department from Knox County.
A healthy Clay County requires great community news.
