Hammons charged in ATV theft

On March 11, 2025, Clay County Sheriff Patrick Robinson announced that Deputies Dustin Henson and Dewey Grubb responded to a report about a side-by-side ATV that was potentially stolen from Laurel County, which had been spotted near Burning Springs Elementary School.
Upon their arrival, the deputies successfully located the ATV and initiated a traffic stop.
When they approached the driver, Robert Hammons, he claimed to have purchased the vehicle for $1500 in cash from another individual. However, a check of the vehicle identification number (VIN) through Clay County Dispatch revealed that it had indeed been reported stolen out of Laurel County. As a result, Robert Hammons, 47, from Manchester, was arrested and charged with:
- Receiving Stolen Property valued between $1,000 and $10,000
- Failure to Appear
