Augustus Samples, Sr.,

Augustus Samples, Sr., 81, passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at the University of Kentucky Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington. Born December 23, 1941 in Manchester, Kentucky, he was the son of the late John G. and Mollie Brumley Samples. After retiring from truck driving, Augustus worked at the I-75 rest area before just recently retiring from there. He enjoyed "junking", working on cars, helping others, but most of all he loved his family more than anything.

Augustus will be lovingly remembered by his children, Frank Downey, Teresa Brock, Janice (Ernest) Collins, Misty Arlene Kincaid, Darlene McKinney, Augustus Samples, Jr., brothers, John E. Samples, Owen Samples, sisters, Lillie Hensley, Wilma Scott, Bert Parsons, Patsy Worley, Parthena Hughes, Dixie West, Wanda Perdue, 13 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his daughter, Melinda Kay Perry, brother, Joe Brumley, sister, Betty Burgess, and mother of his children, Ollie Downey Samples.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 12:00 pm on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at Tucker, Yocum & Wilson Funeral Home, Pastor Bobby Buck Fultz officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 10:00 am. Friends and family are encouraged to leave messages of condolence and share memories here on Augustus's tribute wall.
