Crawfish man brandishes gun, threatens deputy
February 27, 2025

Brandishing a gun on Crawfish Road left a man behind bars Sunday.
An altercation between a father and son landed Eugene Carpenter, 71, of Crawfish Road, faces a host of charges after pulling a gun on his son, Jason, according to deputy Wes Brumley.
The deputy says he received a call around 9:30 p.m. to respond to two men arguing and one had pulled a weapon.
When Brumley arrived, he found Eugene Carpenter backing out of the driveway.
“At that time, I spoke with Mr. Carpenter and immediately detected an odor of alcohol,” the deputy said. “I asked him if he had a weapon, and he responded he did.”
The deputy secured the .38 caliber pistol before taking Carpenter into custody.
While arresting Carpenter, he continued to curse and scream profanities.
Witnesses told the deputy that Carpenter came to the residence, started an argument, and pulled the .38 caliber pistol.
Once inside the cruiser, Carpenter became violent again and started striking his head and face on the cage of Brumley’s vehicle.
“I told him to stop several times,” Brumley said. “He responded, ‘You're gonna get yours when I get out of this vehicle’ as I proceeded to the detention center.”
Officers assisted Brumley at the jail as they escorted Carpenter in the facility.
“At that time, he became physical and threatened me again,” Brumley said. “He kept saying how he was going to ‘f*ck me up’ to other officers.”
Carpenter was charged with:
-Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence.
-Menacing.
-Disorderly Conduct 2nd.
-Wanton Endangerment 1st (two counts).
-Terroristic Threatening 3rd (three counts).
