Film Commission of EKY is about to be a real thing!!

Hello friends! I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the warmer weather. 

I’m sitting here about to jump on a Zoom with some folks from Frankfort, and I can’t help but be super excited about this call. 

This call is about a new bill that Senator Stivers will pass to introduce a new film commission into Eastern KY. 

We all agree that film is a potent form of tourism. When these movies are made in your town, they sometimes bring in over 100 people to set up and do their jobs. 

They move to your city for months at a time. This also means they are spending their money in your town while they nestle down here for work. 

This is huge for our region, and I have been tasked with Harlan’s tourism director to lead the charge until we can find a full-time employee and a film office. 

I will attend the press conference on Thursday and am super excited to introduce something like this to our region. I appreciate all the hard work and recent efforts toward tourism in EKY. 

The scary part about this… We are just getting started!  Much Love Manchester!!
