LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) -A child was taken to the hospital after police said he accidentally shot himself. Louisville Metro police said they were notified around 8:07 a.m. to respond to Southwest Hospital after a child who had been shot was brought in.
The boy had been taken there by private means and was later transferred to Norton Children’s Hospital. He is expected to survive his injuries. Police believe the child was shot on Mango Court.
LMPD later announced they had arrested the child’s father, 23-year-old Jacob Mosley.
Court documents say Mosley told police he left the firearm in the nightstand and while he was in the shower, heard a pop, opened the door, and found the child shot in the arm. Police said the child stated the gun was on the bed.
Mosley is charged with assault-domestic violence, criminal abuse of a child, and wanton endangerment.
