1CC holds downtown clean-up
1 Clay County hosted a cleanup downtown on September 23rd. More than 75 volunteers participated representing Air Evac Lifeteam Manchester, AdventHealth, Clay County Detention Center, Clay County Fiscal Court, Clay County Historical Society, Clay County Off Road, Clay County School Board, Clay County Schools, Eastern Kentucky University, Manchester City Council, Manchester Tourism Commission, Senate President Robert Stivers, and Volunteers of America.
A truckload of trash was collected from the streets of downtown as well as from the banks and the creek along Bridge Street including tires and other large pieces of debris. “As we prepare for significant new economic development activities along Bridge Street we thought it would good for the community to come together and participate in a clean-up. The weather was perfect and we saw a diverse cross section of our community come together. From the basketball team at the high school, to Freedom House clients and their children, inmates and elected leaders alike. Together we had fun and enjoyed getting to collaborate in this way” stated Terry Gray the Vice Chair of 1 Clay County.
1 Clay County is working on several economic development initiatives and hopes to make announcements before the end of the year on the new businesses that will be coming to the community.
