Lady Tigers have big week ahead
McCreary Central – The Lady Raiders (5-7) are in the middle of the pack in a talented 12th region but cannot be overlooked due to record. They’ve played two formidable opponents in a row in Southwestern and Corbin and should feel battle-tested heading into this contest. Led by Maylee Creekmore’s 16 points per game, the Lady Tigers must find a way to take her out of her scoring rhythm while playing turnover-free on the other end—this game tips at 7:30 PM, Friday, January 17th at McCreary Central High School.
Jenkins – Clay County will travel eastward to meet 2-9 Jenkins for a late afternoon Saturday matchup. The Lady Cavaliers haven’t had the best beginning to a season, but they are undoubtedly looking to turn things around. However, if Clay County plays with the effort like in recent games, this shouldn’t be much of a contest—this game tips at 3:00 PM, Saturday, January 18th, at Jenkins High School.
Breathitt County – The Lady Bobcats (9-4) are among the top teams in the 14th region, and one should expect a tough ballgame here. The Lady Bobcats are a young but hardened group, always physically and well-coached. Laden with second- and first-year students, Lexie Combs’ 17.2ppg led this team offensively. If Clay County can slow Combs and Emily Neace (10.8ppg) down and keep the ball out of their hands, this could be a good win for the Lady Tigers. If they can’t, it could be challenging to drop at home—this game tips at 7:30 PM, Tuesday, January 21st, at Clay County High School.
