Copper thieves strike Clay County

Copper thieves are continuing to strike in Eastern Kentucky. Most recently they made cuts in Clay County.
Copper thieves stole approximately 1,200 feet of copper cable from utility poles on Dec. 15 in Machester. These cuts left at least 10 Kinetic customers without service.The theft occurred around 6900 US Highway 421 near Goose Creek and Rocky Branch Road in Clay County, approximately 33 miles from the Kentucky-Virginia-Tennessee border.Kinetic is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to an arrest and conviction related to the copper thefts.
According to Kinetic officials, it is hard to determine exactly how many customers are affected by copper theft due to the widespread amount of thefts in the area.
