Charles Wayne Jones, 85, of Manchester, KY, passed away Tuesday, December 10th, at his home.
Wayne was born in Manchester, KY on April 25, 1939, a son of the late Bill and Mabel Fletcher Jones.
He had a passion for helping people and was a social worker for the Commonwealth of Kentucky for 31 years. He was an avid gardener, fisherman, hunter, family historian, numismatist, and a devoted fan of the Kentucky Wildcats and Billy Martin’s New York Yankees. He was of the Christian faith.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Janet Sams Jones; and his children: Lisa (Freddy) Thompson, Christopher Jones, and Marthanna (Jonathan) Dobson.
He is also survived by his sister, Janis Bowling; his grandchildren: Chad (Page) Thompson and Megan (Ben) Jackson; his bonus grandchildren, Xander and Piper; and by a host of nieces and nephews.
Also surviving are his five great-grandchildren: Braiden, Holden, Livi Grace, Desi, and Landry, all of whom he loved and adored.
In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his brothers, Billy Jones and Quinton Jones; and by his sister, Lynda Roberts.
He was also preceded in death by his life long best friend, J.D. Bowling. He and J.D. were always talking about how many squirrels they killed, fish they caught, and the yield of their garden tomatoes, though the details of all might vary depending on time of day and audience.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Bluegrass Hospice Care.
Graveside Services will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, December 13th at the Harts Branch Cemetery in Manchester, KY, with Rusty Roberts officiating.
