Walking tour huge success!
Participants are raving about the recent history tour the Clay County Historical Society presented.
Titled “Murder & Mayhem,” the historical society presented its first-ever walking tours of Courthouse Hill.
The tour was three fun-filled "feud activity” evenings utilizing actor portrayals.
Society President Mike White says he appreciates the huge turnout and support.
“Our heartfelt thanks to the fifty-two folks who joined us on tour and the incredible actors who helped make it all possible. Your presence and performance were a huge reason our first-ever walking tours received rave reviews,” he said.
The actors participating and the roles they played were: Dylan Beckner as Frank Baker; Danny Finley as Will White; Terry Gray as Jim Howard; Linda Bryant as Martha Ramsey White; James Arnett as "Pitt" Stivers; Tour Guide, James Davidson; Doug Adams as Rev. John J. Dickey; Mark Hoskins as Tom Baker; Jamie Gilbert as Henry Faulkner; and Alice, the goat.
“We loved the tour and learned so much history we didn’t know,” County Attorney Joe White said.
Others echoed those sentiments.
“It was fantastic,” Sonya Hoskins-Gray said. “The actor portrayals brought the stories to life.”
Bobbie Nolan, a resident of Courthouse Hill, said she, too, learned from the tour.
“I live on Courthouse Hill and had no idea of the historical events here,” she said. “We enjoyed it and appreciate the historical society for doing this.”
County Judge-Executive Tommy Harmon said it was educational and unique to our community.
“We have the most active historical society in Kentucky, I truly believe,” he said. “Everything they do is first rate. You’d expect to see this in much larger cities, but we have it right here in Manchester/Clay County. Congratulations to the historical society on another job well done.”
A healthy Clay County requires great community news.
