Mary Gillespie Figg

Mary Gillespie Figg, 87, beloved widow of Kenneth Figg since 2012, joined him in eternal rest on Wednesday, August 30, 2023. She was born in Clay County, KY on November 13, 1935 to the late Vernon and Carrie Whitmore Cowan. Mary was known as a good cook, a skill she put to good use working in the Asbury College Cafeteria and later in the Thomson-Hood Veterans Center Cafeteria. She was a devoted member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. In her spare time, Mary enjoyed working crossword puzzles and the peace of sitting on her front porch watching the cars go by. She looked forward to festivals, especially the Highbridge Homecoming. Mary leaves wonderful memories with her son Kenneth "Vernon" Figg, granddaughter Melinda Figg, and great-grandchildren Brayson and Brinley Figg. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Arlene Thomas and brother Dewey Cowan. Services are pending at this time, but will be updated here as soon as they are finalized.
