Sophia Adams Awarded 2024 Kay Campbell Nursing Scholarship for Clay County

Grace Health is proud to announce that Sophia Adams, a resident of Manchester and a recent graduate of Clay County High School, is the 2024 recipient of the prestigious Kay Campbell Nursing Scholarship for Clay County.

Sophia Adams has exemplified academic excellence and community involvement throughout her high school career. Sophia graduated with a remarkable 4.7 weighted GPA and earned over 30 college credit hours while in high school. Her dedication to her studies and her community has not gone unnoticed, earning her the Merit 2 scholarship at Eastern Kentucky University and recognition as the ARH WKYT Mountain Student Achiever of the Week.

The daughter of Michael and Stacy Adams, Sophia will attend Eastern Kentucky University this fall. She was drawn to EKY for its renowned nursing program and proximity to home, allowing her to stay close to her loved ones. She shared, "I have many goals and dreams I’d like to achieve. My biggest dream is to be a nurse practitioner. I chose this path because of my love for helping people." She also credits her family for inspiring her career choice, saying, "Growing up around people who had successful careers helped. When I was a child, my aunt became a nurse practitioner, and I look up to her."

Throughout high school, Sophia was actively involved in numerous organizations and community service projects. She served in the Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) for two years, holding positions as a junior officer and Vice President of Individual Programs. Her community service efforts with FCCLA included a pajama drive for local schools, a Valentine’s donation event for the local nursing home, and a Thanksgiving food drive. Additionally, Sophia competed in varsity tennis for four years and was involved in advocating and fundraising for a Safe Haven Baby Box in Manchester. She attended the FCCLA State Leadership Conference in both 2023 and 2024, where she judged and showcased community service work.

Grace Health is honored to support Sophia Adams in her journey to becoming a nurse practitioner and is confident she will continue to make a positive impact in her community and beyond.
