Two pounds of methamphetamine seized during arrest
Laurel County Sheriff John Root and London City Police Chief Chuck Johnson announce that: On September 6th, 2023, a lengthy investigation by the Laurel County Drug Interdiction Task Force into the drug trafficking ring in Laurel County resulted in the arrest of Henderson Leon Day Jr. age 61 of London and the seizure of over 2 lbs. of methamphetamine and 2 firearms. Day, a prior felon, was arrested at Exit 38 in London as he returned from a trip to Louisville, KY where he acquired 2 lbs. of methamphetamine. The Task Force followed up the arrest of Day with a search of his residence that yielded 1 stolen firearm along with a second firearm and a smaller amount of methamphetamine. An additional approximately 1 lb. of methamphetamine was seized during the last few weeks as the investigation progressed. Additional co-conspirators have been identified and more arrests are anticipated in the coming weeks. Day was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center and charged with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st Degree.
