Jean Baker
Jean Baker, 94, of Manchester, KY, passed away Sunday, June 30th, at the Laurel Heights Nursing Home in London, KY.
Jean was born in Manchester, KY on May 25, 1930, a daughter of the late Benjamin and Mattie Smith Baker. She taught for the Clay County system for 40 years and after her retirement she was a college instructor. Jean was a member of the Manchester Baptist Church and was also an active member of the Clay County Historical Society.
Jean is survived by her children: Barry (Missy) Lewis of London and Valerie (Tim) Meyer of Louisville; and her grandchildren: Ben Meyer of Louisville, Isabelle Meyer of Louisville, Lawrence Lewis of Louisville, and Mattie Lewis of Lexington.
She is also survived by special family members, Neville Smith and Phyllis Robinson, both of Manchester; her caregivers: Loretta Hicks, Elizabeth Smallwood, and Woody Montoya; and by her special friends at the Manchester Historical Society, Betsy Carloftis and family, and Pat Collins.
The family would like to say a special thank you to James Ed Garrison for maintaining Jean's home and to the staff at Laurel Heights Nursing Home.
Services will be held at 3:30 PM on Wednesday, July 3rd at Britton Funeral Home, with Ken Bolin and Donnie Stevens officiating. Burial will follow at the Manchester Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held from 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM on Wednesday, July 3rd at Britton Funeral Home.
