Bernard “Boe” William Hampton

Bernard “Boe” William Hampton, 72, of Seymour passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at his residence. He was born on November 26, 1950, in Oneida, Kentucky, the son of George and Gladys (Allen) Hampton.

Boe is survived by his children, Nicholas (Brandy) Hampton of Seymour and Jordan (Matthew) Hubbard also of Seymour; grandchildren Presley Kate and Isaac Hampton and Lincoln Hubbard all of Seymour. He is also survived by Dalona (Swider) Hampton, spouse of 40 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Alberta Slone of Manchester, Kentucky.

Boe attended Clay County High School in Manchester, Kentucky before moving to Jackson County, Indiana. After working hard as a young man in various jobs in auto and at Cummins Engine Co, he saved to open his own business, Boe and Son Body Shop and Towing in Seymour. After 20 years of success with a great team of individuals by his side, he “retired” in 2003. In his semi-retirement he found additional ventures with his children in Hampton Car & Truck, Hampton Towing and various areas of real estate. Boe’s favorite hobby was his work and anything to do with automobiles. Later in life he found joy in kayaking and in spending time with his family, friends and especially his grandchildren. Boe never met a stranger and although he did not always wear it on his sleeve, to those who knew him well, he will be remembered for his very caring and generous heart.

A visitation for the celebration of life for Boe Hampton will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023 from 11am until 2pm at Voss and Sons Funeral Home, located at 316 N Chestnut Street, Seymour, Indiana, 47274. A funeral service will be held at the Rominger Funeral Home, Manchester, Kentucky, on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at 1pm with visitation starting at 12pm and burial to follow service at Cotton Bend Family Cemetery, Manchester, Kentucky.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in honor of Boe Hampton to the Brownstown Central High School to fund their Industrial Technology Programs for direct support of their new Construction and Auto Trade Education classes. His children have chosen this to honor Boe’s life work, especially in auto/transportation, and his desire to support and assist in the growth of young people and their opportunities to learn good trade work.
