Manchester man charged in theft

Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Matt Walker along with Deputy Allen Turner arrested William Seiver age 37 of Seiver Branch Rd., Manchester on Sunday afternoon June 9, 2024 at approximately 1:50 PM. The arrest occurred at Walmart near Corbin in southern Laurel County after deputies were dispatched to a complaint from Walmart's loss prevention team that a male subject had allegedly stolen multiple items, took them to his vehicle in the parking lot and reentered the store. When deputies arrived at the scene and made contact with the suspect – the suspect denied having stolen any items from the store. However, deputies located the suspect’s vehicle in the parking lot and the stolen items in the backseat of the vehicle. Value of the stolen merchandise was $689.66. In addition, during the investigation deputies also located items allegedly taken from Lowes in Corbin valuing over $1200. These items were returned to Lowes. William Seiver was charged with theft by unlawful taking and was lodged in the Laurel County correctional center.
