Stringbean Bluegrass Festival to be held on June 20-22

The 27th Annual Stringbean Memorial Bluegrass Festival will be held on Thursday-Saturday, June 20-22, 2024, at Stringbean Memorial Park at 1410 Oak Grove Church Road in Tyner, KY.

Bands appearing include Hall of Famer Larry Sparks & the Lonesome Ramblers on Saturday, along with Fenced In, Laurel River Line, Phillip Akemon & Flatlick, Sparrow Hawks, and Middle Fork Grass. Lonesome River Band, featuring 5-time IBMA Banjo Player of the Year Sammy Shelor, will appear on Friday, along with Hammertowne, Kaintuck Band, Blue Note, Finley Murphy & the Gospel Grass, and Elias Crowe. Jeff Parker & Company (formerly of Dailey & Vincent) will appear on Thursday, along with the Letterbox Boys, K Shack Band, Stevens Family Tradition, the Smith Sisters, Anglin Brothers Bluegrass, and the Williamsburg Gospel Barn House Band.

Tickets and Camping are on sale now at StringbeanPark.com. A Big 3-Day Pass is only $60, with single-day tickets also available for $25 per day. Camping with water and electricity is available in 3-day, 5-day, or 7-day packages. Primitive Camping is free with a festival ticket. Tickets and camping can also be purchased at the Gate with cash only.

Two autographed copies of the new book on Stringbean Akeman by Dr. Taylor Hagood, "Stringbean: The Life and Murder of a Country Music Legend," will be given away in a drawing this month. The first 200 people who purchase tickets or camping on the festival's website at StringbeanPark.com will be automatically entered in the drawing.

Celebrating its 27th event in 2024, the festival honors Jackson County native and beloved Grand Ole Opry star David ‘Stringbean’ Akeman. His unique stage attire, traditional claw hammer banjo style, and entertaining stage banter endeared him to fans around the world. 'The Kentucky Wonder' was best known for his musical comedic performances on the hallowed stage of the Grand Ole Opry beginning in the 1940’s and on the television series “Hee Haw” until his tragic death in 1973.

With a rich history and beautiful locale at Stringbean Memorial Park, the festival has hosted some of the brightest stars in Bluegrass including GRAMMY Award-winners Ricky Skaggs and Rhonda Vincent, and the legendary Ralph Stanley who headlined the inaugural event in 1996.
