Trial set for former South Laurel Middle School Coach

The former middle school girls’ basketball coach at South Laurel now has a trial date for federal court.

William Trevor Goodson, 31, appeared in U.S. Federal Court in London Friday on charges of sexual abuse 1st, according to court records.

The former coach is scheduled for trial on July 30th at 9 a.m. in London Federal Court.

A federal grand jury has indicted a former South Laurel middle school basketball coach.

William Trevor Goodson, 31, of Antioch, TN., was indicted for sexual abuse 1st.

Goodson was previously under indictment by a Laurel County grand jury on the charges. The federal case will supersede the state charges.

Goodson, the girls’ basketball coach at South Laurel Middle School, is accused of “persuading, induce, entice, or coerce an individual under the age of 18, using a means of facility of interstate commerce, to engage in sexual activity.”

If convicted, he will face no less than a 10-year sentence.
