CC Days Festival kicks off today!
Live music, games and the smell of funnel cakes will fill the air starting Thursday as the Clay County Days Festival will be held in downtown Manchester.
The Clay County Tourism Committee is ‘bringin’ back the days’ as the festival has not been held in many years.
“As a committee this was something we wanted to do for the people of Manchester and Clay County,” according to committee chairman Glenda Hubbard.
Things will kick-off Thursday at 6 p.m. with the parade beginning at the campus of Eastern Kentucky University. Vendor set-up will begin after the parade.
Opening ceremonies are set for 5 p.m. Thursday with Sneaky Pete taking the stage from 5:30 p.m. through 7 p.m.
Kelsey Hart will be on stage from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
If you love the rock band KISS, make sure you’re in downtown Manchester to see the cover band: Kiss-Dressed to Kill from 9:30 to 11 p.m.
Activities for Friday include: axe throwing, archery and mechanical bull riding.
Saturday’s entertainment starts at 11 a.m. with the Bluegrass Kuzins. The Stevens Family follows at 12:30 p.m. with The Cloggers at 2 p.m.
Micro-wrestling will be held from 3-4:30 p.m.
Local band Deep South take the stage from 5 to 6:30 p.m. followed by The Creekers from 7-8:30 p.m. The night will close out with Dwanna and the Funky Bunch from 9 to 11 p.m.
The activites schedule for Saturday is:
8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Muskie Tournament
11 a.m. Archery, ATV Ride, Mechanical Bull Ride, Axe Throwing and Cornhole Tournament
Noon to 4 p.m. Car Show
1 p.m. Arm Wrestling (Pro and Street)
