Tiger baseball opens region tourney Wednesday
(MANCHESTER, Ky.)—Due to this past week’s significant thunderstorms and inclement weather, the 2024 KHSAA 13th Regional Tournament hosted by Knox Central has undergone a few scheduling changes. Games were pushed back by a day each, giving a slight advantage to those who played first, as they had more time to recuperate their pitching staff. Listed below is the new schedule for the 13th Region Tournament.
As of Tuesday evening, Corbin / Jackson County will have played at 5:30 PM, followed by Harlan / Barbourville at 7:30 PM. Both games occurring on Tuesday night means their results will not meet publication deadlines for this week’s edition of the Enterprise. As it stands, Corbin is the heavy favorite to emerge from the top section of the bracket.
The Clay County Tigers now meet the Bell County Bobcats on Wednesday at 5:30 PM. This game was initially slated for Tuesday but got pushed back to Wednesday due to many storms. Knox Central / Whitley County will follow this game at 7:30 PM. The defending State Champion Whitley County Colonels are the favorite in the bottom bracket as they’ve been rock solid all season.
The semi-final round will be held on May 30th. The top bracket will compete at 5:30 PM, and the bottom bracket will follow at 7:30 PM. The 13th Region Championship will now be held on May 31st at 6:00 PM. Knox Central High School hosts all games.
