A former Leslie County deputy has been found guilty of murder.
The jury deliberated several hours before returning the verdict Tuesday afternoon.
Jeremy Lewis, a former deputy in Leslie County, was charged with murder, tampering with physical evidence, and abuse of a corpse in the 2018 disappearance of Tyler North, also of Leslie County. A jury deemed him guilty on all charges.
The trial was moved to Clay from Leslie due to pre-trial publicity.
North was declared missing in 2018, but after a two-year investigation, North’s skull was found in Leslie County, and DNA evidence eventually led to the arrest of Lewis and North’s girlfriend, Michelle North.
A healthy Clay County requires great community news.
